Our Approaches

01 Wound Care Kits

Our first approach involves the provision of wound care kits, created to be used post-injury for superficial wounds, to minimize infection and complications, promote hygiene and consequently facilitate the healing of a wound.

02 Care Conversations

Care conversations highlight our kits, why to use them, complications from improper wound care, warning signs (infections, chronic wounds), and where to seek further help if needed. They happen biweekly at distribution sites and during with partnered organizations running pop-up clinics, led by our team and volunteers.

03 Educational Outreach

Wound care education outreach uses posters and infographics in high-traffic DTES hubs (safe consumption sites, soup kitchens, food banks, SROs). These materials highlight proper care, warning signs, and when to seek help. We also educate local organizations on wound identification, complications, and the burden of wounds to ensure broader support for this underserved issue.

04 Beyond the Wound Media Project [TBC]

Through raw photography, videos, and testimonials, this initiative highlights the systemic factors—poverty, housing insecurity, and limited healthcare access—fueling wounds in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. By sharing firsthand accounts from residents and key stakeholders, we aim to humanize these experiences and spark dialogue, empathy, and action.
